Sharing Awareness project partner Al-Baraka Schools teachers integrating ICT in classroom activities as a part of Teacher Training
The Sharing Awareness method, which is an important part of all the projects we support, are based on the following key aspects:
- E-learning: E-learning is cost-effective, highly adaptable, and opens up great possibilities for sharing ideas across borders. We also believe that supporting online-based teacher training programmes is a brilliant way of bridging the global digital divide.
- Unique local needs, unique solutions: No country, no region, no school, is the same. Therefore, all of our supported projects are based on raising awareness at a grassroots level, designed in close cooperation with local partners and specifically adapted to the local context. From start to finish.
- Flexibility: One of the greatest benefits in working with e-learning is the high degree of flexiblity. In the teacher training programmes we support, the teachers taking the course are able to continue working as teachers in their regular schools while studying. They are more likely to stay and continue working in that specific school, thus avoiding the problem of ’brain drain’ where qualified teachers move away from rural areas where they are most needed.
- Action learning: Building knowledge through actual actions, rather than solely through traditional instruction and lecturing. We believe in learning through activity, and through solving tasks in real situations.
- Equality: There are still huge disparities in access to education, not least gender-based. Our goal is that 50% of the teachers trained in our projects should be women. They will not only increase their own knowledge, but will also become positive role models in their communities, opening up new possibilities for other women as well.
- Local takeover: All teacher training that we support is based on the long-term goal that already trained teachers will eventually be able to take over, becoming ’local supervisors’ and training their fellow teachers.
